Exploring the Zebra Crossings of Life

It’s the little things in life that get me.

On a friend’s blog there is someone (I do not know personally) who uses a small three letter word an awful lot; a sort of ’listen to me’, an unpleasant nudge.

It annoys me.

English is not my first language so I consulted my son on this just now. Well educated as he is he explained to me all the ways how that word can be interpreted. He also confirmed my fear that, when you don’t have a person right in front of you or on the phone, virtual interpretation is your own.

Since much better versed in the ways of how to communicate in the anonymous world of the web Felix gave me his advice on this particular issue:

“Mama, just chuck the computer out of the window and live life”

I’ll try.

  1. I have now given up imagining what the 3 letter word is…I hate it when the obvious escapes me..as it so often does. I noticed in your previous entry you noted, quite reasonably, that there are worse things than going through life in a slight alcoholic fog. Combined with your earlier defense of smokers I now see why we have managed to keep our communication going for as long as we have – thanks mainly to you it must be noted. Keep writing and I will keep reading with enthusiasm.

Vernon, a charming, endearing note you wrote.

As I have already chocked on the damn three letter word more than once I shall not spit it out this very moment (ask me next time we speak).

Your assessment of our relationship brings tears of joy to my eyes. To think that what keeps us and our friendship together being based on fog and smoke – pure Hitchcock set in London.

Sprinkling our shared cake’s icing with affection,
